Unexpected Joy is a hand-crafted sculptural wall artwork measuring 100×100cm, created in England in my Buckinghamshire studio using a strong, durable texturing compound designed for long-lasting structural depth. The composition is built in a highly textured abstract language, with bold blue and white tones interwoven with shimmering copper, creating a surface that feels energetic yet controlled. The relief is pronounced and architectural, allowing light to catch across the raised areas and reveal shifting contrast between colour, texture, and metallic reflection.

Each piece is individually made by hand, ensuring natural variation in surface and finish, and reinforcing its identity as a unique original rather than a reproduced design. The surface is built in full 3D relief, extending across the edges so the work can be displayed frameless as a complete sculptural object, although framing can also be accommodated if preferred.

Unexpected Joy is designed for contemporary interiors where bold material presence and layered abstraction define the space. It sits naturally in modern living areas, statement walls, or gallery-style interiors where colour and texture are allowed to hold visual weight without restriction. Custom dimensions and variations can be created on request, with each commission developed individually and supported through progress updates throughout the making process.
